After my Maxima is warmed up, the car frenquently idles at 1400 RPM. It will not go down unless I blimp the gas pedal. I believe it to be related to the throttle position sensor because if I press the gas pedal down slowly, the rpms actually goes down first (about 300 rpm) before it goes up. This is all with the A/C off.

This scenerio is most common after extended trips on the freeway or cruising. It is less common on stop and go traffic.

Has anyone else experienced this problem? The dealer tried finding the problem and has failed once already.

There is a flexible black plastic air duct which conveys fresh air from the air cleaner to the throttle body. Examine this duct for splits and cracks. If air sneaks into the intake tract downstream of the Mass Air Flow Sensor it can cause a high and erratic idle such as you report.
