what would a bad wheel bearing sound like?
i have a metal on metal scraping noise while the wheels are rolling. it gets faster as the car is moving faster and slows down when slowing down. It's almost like somethings stuck in one of the spokes of the wheel and is scraping against the caliper each time the wheel turns. bad wheel bearing?
Ah yes...the grinding noise. I had the same sound and had to have my drivers side front bearing and spindle replaced. Jack up the front end, grab the tire at 12 and 6 and see if you can wiggle it. Wiggle...bad. No wiggle...good. If you get wiggle the bearing could be going bad or a front end part is about to die. Don't drive it for an extra week or so like I did and wait until it gets really loud. Go get it fixed sooner rather then later.
another thing to just check is jack the car up and take that wheel off spin it and see if you can pinpoint the noise at all. Somtimes the dustshield thats around the disc can touch it just a little bit and make an aweful noise -Ryan
sounds like my bearing..
I had the same thing...replaced the bearing and it was fixed...i also waited the extra week until i couldnt take the noise no more...acutally the wheel pratically locked up......its not good..

Marcin, we did brakes in that car just about a year ago, they should be just fine. Check that right rear again to make sure it's not hanging up. Jack the car up and spin that tire. The tire should spin free with just a hint of pad to rotor contact.
The bearing would make a groaning noise for a while, getting louder as you bare left or right depending on what side it's on.
You could have something caught in your front brake rotor splash shield or the shield may have been bent into the rotor. It's such an easy fix if thats the problem. Take a long screwdriver, put it through the wheel onto the splash shield which you should see sitting slightly up from the rotor. Just push on it in a few spots. If something's caught it may fall out as you push that away from the rotor. If it's bent, it should move back into place and stop hitting the rotor.
I get a few rocks stuck in there, probably because of the open spoke wheel and it sounds nasty. Usually frees itself, but sometimes I have to help it out.
