A pointless chamber to hold air that Nissan designed into the vehicle...

Only 95's have that "extra" resonator .... That's what makes them faster

Its a secondary/ resonated air box, in addition to the primary airbox. Without it, your idle will fluctuate up and down at random, and throttle may not be as responsive as it should be. My Mx6 has this, so I know.

When I was N/A, I had none of those plastic resonators on the car and my idle was perfect...I dont think it has anything to do with idle...its more of when your cruizing, it stores air in the chambers, and uses it when it needs it...

some cars have a resonator (or plastic box) that goes into the intake manifold, and doesnt go through the airbox at all, like my mom's Kia sportage. The resonators in the maximas don't have anything to do with idle. I have no resonators, no snorkel, hacked airbox, and my idle is at 700 and doesn't fluctuate.

Its just a resonator box, just used to assist in keeping the engine quite for all the elderly drivers out there. Has zero to do with idle

Never seen it on a '96 .. you sure it's what is in the picture, and you sure you don't have it swapped wiht a 95 intake, on top of what the prod date of your car? ::splitting hairs::

My 95 doesn't have it, but that's becuase I'm using a 96 air box.

I guess you all missed the 'may' up there huh? I described it to you exactly as it happens on my mx6. Maybe it doesnt do that on the maxima. Forget that i only have a 10month maxima or the lack of posts(has something to do with fixing and figuring things out on my own, rather than ask a million stupid and useless questions), I've probably been doing this longer than you, so newb on my left ball.

Matty, if there's a constant supply of air into the throttle(as there should be), there wont be a need for an in-case-of storage unit.
