shakey/lumpy start up?

On my 95 GXE when I crank the car it starts up fine, but once it is running it runs very lumpy, and it shakes. If you try to drive the car while it is doing this, it jolts and runs crappy. It usually takes about 20-30 seconds for this problem to clear up, and then the car runs as smooth as a top. My CEL light is not working so I am not sure if I am throwing any codes since I have not had a chance to run to Auto Zone to have the codes scanned. Any ideas on this? Its worse when the engine is cold, but it does it all the time. At first I thought it may have been from using a fram oil filter so I switched back to Nissan and still I have the same problem. I do not think it is an oil problem because the oil light goes off as soon as I crank the car. Any help guys?

had a relatively similar problem with cold starts only though. But it turned out to be the fuel pump...it took a few cranks but it would run fine after about 10 seconds. good luck.
