I don't think it would work with out a couple of weeks of tweeking and messing with the settings, because I don't think that even the ECU would be able to work right w/out a few tweeks

IMHO, getting the 6 speed would be pretty useless as you'd rarely use 6th gear especially if you do alot of city or freeway driving where your freeways are mostly congested anyway. You'd rarely even find it necessary to go to 6th gear when you can't go fast enough up at a certain RPM where you'd need to upshift to 6th. I'd see the feasibility of this if you live in Germany and you drive the Autobahn daily.
if you had a 6 spd you would understand.

need to do some research but didnt know the gearing between 5mt and 6mt are so close. Then acceleration off the line should be about the same, but drivetrain loss should increase with having a 6mt vs 5mt.

Although having a 6sp tranny would be cool to have. what would be the point after that?

Did you bother to read the entire thread before posting??

The advantages are slightly more agressive gearing 1-5 and a lazy 6th gear for highway MPG.

The disadvantages are more drivetrain loss since there are simply more constant mesh gears and it requires extensive customization to work in a 4th gen.
