hahah I will take it from one who knows Maxima performance!

GUYS- I don't know if these are directed at me but I am NOT afraid to hit the rev limiter with my VQ. I DO know what will happen, I have done it in more than one G35 and a GS-T Eclipse.

I just have managed to shift right at redline on every occasion (not very hard with a bolt-on non-FI non-VI)

Did last night while shifting to 4th only I missed 4th and went to 2nd

Tach flew to 8K scared the living **** out of me. Car still seems to be fine though. Thank god VQ is just about bullet-proof.

I really need to get the urethane shifter bushing. Stock shifter is really sloppy.

Quite a few people have popped their motors that way, and others have blown transmissions that way.

I can't imagine hitting redline with a stock setup being too dangerous for the engine. Nissan put the rev limiter in there so you won't do any damage. So I'm kinda confused why everyone is so concerned when they hit redline.

Somebody with a max did the same thing a year ago. He accidentally downshifted into second instead of fourth, which resulted in a blown engine. In this case the wheels are causing the revs to go so high rather than the gas pedal so the rev limiter won't save you.

I have bounced both my moms maxima off the limiter IIRC it was the 2-3 shift and my VR-4 off the limiter in 3rd Gear at 125mph while racing a Supercharged S2000

I do it every now and then, I try not too simply because I don't want to, and theres really no point in taking it up that high on the USIM......
Now, with the JWT and 00VI I will be aquiring soon, it'll be a different story ...

On a second note. This past weekend when I was up racing at deals gap, on the way there at least... My buddy and I were doing a 2nd-4th gear run, and on the 3rd-4th shift I totally missed it (the new seats put me at a very different position, and im still getting used to the B&M)... Anyways, it bounced up to nearly 8K.... Sounded freaking insane, and I got scared ****less.... But it's fine, and the engine is bulletproof either way... so im good

Its kinda hard to describe how it feels other than the car stutters, and then goes and then stutters, from bouncing of the rev limiter.
Yea Yea lets bragg about being boosted.

hell yeah, my i30t hits 6700, no mevi, but cold air... And i don't need boost to chirp in 2nd and 3rd, just a stage 3 clutch from SPEC. These vq30's are made to redline with. If you have LSD, it's even better cause the power will be put down rather than go out the ***.

I actually ended up hitting my speed limiter (125 mph) before I got to hit the rev limiter.

ya hit the speed limiter today with my 95 gxe hate the thing oh well dont want to put a switch in for it or ill be too tempted to go faster then that. It cuts gas out at around 117 for me doesnt quite make 120. I have my mevi in there but all the stuff to make it work isnt in it yet. Once i got it all in i have a feelin i might be hitting that rev limiter.

I have hit it intentionally a few times, but never unintentionally. I just think "hey, I'm gonna hold this gear until the feul cut." It doesn't seem very "aggressive" i.e. the oscillations of engine speed are rather slow.. "vrrrr....vrrrr....vrrrrr" instead of "vrvrvrvrvr" if you get my drift.

I hit the rev limiter so many times Wonder why it's still in one peice. And the actual rev cut is around 6700 on my tach. I always shift past the 6.5k bar on the tach.

smotz why the hell did u bring this idiotic thread back again? no u didnt rev to 6900 and no its not broken its in place and wont just disapear. Your tach is just that much off, if you think your right get a data logger and do it again and see what the RPM really goes up to. Everyones tach's are differnt and some are off more than others but all 4th gens have the same rev limit unless you have an upgraded ecu that extends the limit. and once again i hate this thread

Yes it was, i think it was around 4500 or 5000 RPM so it was a bit under the rev limiter. I know it was the speed limiter cause I felt a sudden loss in power, as if my fuel supply to the engine was being shut off intermittently

"i hit the rev limiter today and it sounded loud" wtf is that. i almost thought that was a joke til i read that rest. Btw i dont know if thats your house in your car pictures with the two garage doors but thats pretty cool that the paint on the doors match the car might make for a good spy shot photo from in the garage or somthing

Lol ya thats my house back home in NJ, spy shot photo? Er...... I understand what you mean about the thread, but if it bothers you that much leave it alone. Don't read it and don't worry about it. I think these people who do it are just like well I've never done it before, and I wanna see what happens but I don't know if it will break anything. It is 'ish but whatever, just let it go.
