I had someone tell me that when I go to replace spark plugs, wires, etc. I need to take it to a dealership because they have to tune the electronics of the car as well. I am more than capable of handling the servicing part, but will the dealership really mess with the computer and such? It really doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me. Anyone able to help me out?

that person doesn't know what they're talking about...

1. There are no "electronics" to tune. The ECU is self-learning, so even if new plugs needed it, the ECU would figure it out by itself.

2. Gen4 and 5 Max's don't have spark plug wires.

Replace your spark plugs with confidence.

Be sure to use ratchets whenever possible. The Philips screws (which hold in the coils for each spark) will strip if they haven't been moved in a while.

That "someone" is misinformed. You can do this work yourself.

Routine servicing of cars is simpler and easier than ever. No more points and condenser. No more ignition timing adjustment. No more carburetor adjustments. No more chassis lubrication.

No wires or electronics to worry about. I suggest you stick with the stock NGK Platinums.

Yes.

I have the Bosch +4's and they don't feel the same.

I was considering getting Bosch +4. Thanks again for the advice. I suppose I'll be going back to the same manufacturer. Is there anything else y'all think I should be aware of or might want to look into while I'm doind all of this?

Depending on when you want to do the replacement, you should buy the NGK Platnium plugs from www.courtesyparts.com
They sell them for much less than most dealers and auto stores.
