I realized last week that of all the maintenance type work I've done, I'd never replaced the pcv valve. So a few days ago, I picked up a new one, then checked out the condition of the existing one. Well, it wasn't too bad, but still somewhat gunked up. After replacing it, I wondered what the pipe leading from the pcv valve to the manifold collector was like and man, was there ever a ton of carbon buildup in there. So I cleaned it out, and my rag looked as messy as the first time I ever cleaned out the throttle body.

Well I can now feel a difference in the way my car accelerates, the engine revs smoother and the throttle response is definitely quicker.

Sounds good, I plan on doing this once I get a few things out of the way. If nothing else than for peace of mind.

Just imagine that crap that's inside the upper plenum/upper intake manifold.
I took that off a while back and cleaned tons of black crap out of there. Now cleaning that out is some piece of mind!

Ya, i wanted to clean my manifold but figured it was a good idea to take it off and have it blasted at a local machine shop, didnt want to run the risk of getting any pieces into a valve.

Did you take off the 2 bolts behind the IM near the firewall holding it to the engine?

Yesterday, I removed the TB and sprayed a couple of cans of cleaner into the IM. I'm trying to free up the small hose to the EGR cause I'm getting 0302 code. IM was very mucked up. After spraying TB cleaner and using compressed air to get out the cleaner, IM looked much cleaner. Car runs better and no code so far. If this doesn't work, I will have to remove the plenum
