digital clock display

Does anybody know how to fix the clock display mine use to fade on and off but it's offically gone now. I was thinking it is a resistor kind of like the bose display.

I'm not sure how to fix it, but when mine died I bought one from a junkyard for $5.

Actually its most likely a cold solder joint on the clock unit.. easiest thing to do is to swap it out with another one.
