Clutch fluid leak
Clutch fluid leak
I have a stick shift and I've had the leak for about a year and now it really is bad and I think I messed up my clutch and possibly synchros cuz im not able to shift only when I turn off the car. My question is where do you think the leak might be up where the master is or down by the clutch what is the most frequent spot.
Thanx

He is talking about clutch fluid, not transaxle gear oil!
I suspect you either have to replace the clutch receptacle because it is leaking, or else it is the slave cylinder. However, problems with a slave cylinder do not tend to drag on as long as yours has, so it could be something else.

i had a slow clutch luid leak in my 96 speed. Not in the transmission but where I would put brake fluid.
It turned out to be the rubber clutch line on the transmission that feed the clutch slave cyinder . Motorvate.Ca explains that this is a common failure..if your have ever replaced your clutch or tranny that rubber line should be replaced, if not you will get a slow leak. I replaced my lines with SS one on the group deal.
I reccomend you replaced the piece no matter what...you get a better clutch feel and it will most likely solve your problem.

a lot of us have had this same problem. I replaced my slave cylinder and that did not fix it so, I replaced the hose and copper washers that were going to the slave cylinder and this fixed the problem. Get someone to push your clutch in while you are looking at the slave cylinder and the hose and try to pin point the leak. If it were me I would just replace the slave and the hose and washers. Goodluck.

A while back I posted a thread about replacing the rear valve gasket, after I replaced it I couldn't find the thread to thank anyone. So thanks, it really wasn't that bad except for the stealership giving me the wrong gasket. My oil light is still coming on at idle sometimes, but I think that's because my idle is a little low.
