So is mine Bose or no-Bose?
Hey all.
Just got my White 98 SE Auto a couple of weeks ago. It's got the double-DIN CD/Cassette/Radio unit with changer controls. It looks just like the BOSE unit in the manual. But no BOSE logos anywhere.
So is it BOSE or not? Does it have the execrable mini-amps in the doors?
I want to keep the head unit because I like the double-DIN ergonomics and the FM Diversity tuner. And I like the clean stock look. Does it have preamp-level outputs for adding amps?
I have the little tweeters in my doors. So the door speakers are 6.5S all around, right? And any tweeter will probably fit the door holes, right?
Again, remember that I want that stock interior look.
Thanks for any help you can give me.

Okay, so it's not a Bose. So how easy is it to add amps and a sub?
I think the sound right now is, uh, fair. I'd like to put in different speakers up front, but I won't do that without adding an amp.
And I have an older Punch 150 amp and a 12" MTX Black Gold -- the only components I salvaged out of a reasonably decent system in my hoopty Caprice. So I'd add a little reinforcement in the lower octaves, too. If I decide to do anything.
My question is... Does the head unit have preamp-level outs? And will my sound quality be really subpar if I have to run speaker-level into my amps downstream?

My understanding is that all of the head units are clarion... the only thing that makes the Bose special is bose on the cassett door and the Bose amps on each of the Bose speakers running at like .5 ohm...
But I am really not totally sure...
