Instead of making new valid points, all we are doing is rewording the old one's to sound new and convincing. Let's just let this die...

i agree...until mikee comes back atleast.

Wow! this thread HAS gotten out of hand! Regarding the tranny swap idea... like I said, I really don't think it would be worth it because selling a modded maxima thats auto would be really difficult. If I keep the infiniti, I will not be swapping parts. I'm going to keep all the mods on the maxima and try to sell it. The suggestion I liked was to sell both cars and get something else. However, I need to sell one of them and give the money to my parents to help pay for their new car ('05 g35x). So, I need to choose between the two. I think I'm leaning towards the infiniti though, just because it has never had a problem and it is in excellent condition (its been well taken care of). Its hard to let go of the maxima, but I think it would be a safer choice. I'll take some pictures of the infiniti and maxima (when I get it back) and post them.

Anyways, thanks for all the suggestions!

P.S - I go to Uni in downtown Toronto, and I commute from the suburbs, so having an auto really isn't that bad.

no one really... I still stand by my opinion, and think that he would sorely miss his ride if he sold it. The points I made were valid, and I hope he still considers the posts in this thread before he makes a decision. I think he will have an even harder time getting rid of the Maxima when he sees the newly revitalized body...Ahh well

personally i think the body work is a complete waste of money, sell it as is. put the money in the bank and save for a new car

It appears he has already made his decision.

The obvious question is will the $1,500 in paint and body work be recouped through the sale of the car? If yes, go for it, if not cut your losses and get rid of the car.

of course spending $1500 for complete body work and new paint is worth it!

That's not what he said though. What he said, since it does seem you've made your decision, is whether or not the $1500 of body work will in fact yield you more than 1500 over the price you would have sold had you not fixed the body work. Since you're not keeping the modded, perfect body 5speed, the question now becomes will the money you spend before the sale actually yield any better sale prices, or sale prices that make up for the fact that you spent 1500 on body work for a car you're not keeping.

i wouldnt have spent 1500 to repaint a car to sell for maybe 1000 more. i just would have swapped out bolt on stuff and sold the maxima as is

That's precisely what I was getting at. He is de-modding the car, so why try to make a silk purse out of a sow's ear?

If you have a high degree of certainty that you can recoup the $1,500 and it will make for a more expedient sale, then go for it! If not, move on.

thats exactly what i was responding to. Spending 1500 to make the car look brand new is definitely worth it. The way the car looked before, it would be hard to get anything over 3500, but with body work and paint I can probably get around 6500. So ya, i'd say its worth it.

Dude, 90% of ppl dont want a modded car, just swap all the bolt ons on to the i30. You'll get more for your car as stock then modded.

ya i agree, but there really isn't much done to it. Its lowered with an exhaust. thats it.

And to switch the suspensions and exhausts aint cheap. I called a shop to see how much it would cost to switch suspensions, and it was $900. Plus I dont want an exhaust on an automatic car!

u can just do it urself it takes a matter of 2 hours to take out ur suspension and it would be a direct swap, 5 bolts out 5 bolts in it will take less than an afternoon to do both the exhuast and suspension ask one of ur buddies to help u.
