Getting another Max today!

I found a good deal locally for a 5spd Maxima, and I'm getting it today, to add to my other one. It's a 1995 Forest green SE, leather, heated seats and mirrors, bose, climate control etc, and most of all its 5spd. 108,000 on the tach and it runs good. Has some cosmetic issues, but I bought it for a project so it give me some work to do too. I'll post up some pics later when I bring it home. This makes for a two 95's, one auto, one stick.

Excellent...good luck with the tranny and everything else. You should have a lot of fun with it.

Good work!

I suspect the 95 automatic has more miles on it than the one you just bought. Flog the automatic in due course. You don't need two 95s on an ongoing basis.

I actually am considering doing the swap. My original 95 I am in LOVE with, its granite pearl and I have so much into that car. The tranny is gone in it too, so thats why I was looking for another max. I may end up parting out the Green one, or selling it, or who knows what. But for now, I'm pleased with the 2. I have the Green one now, I'm going to detail it because its very dirty and put some pics up.

Ok I looked up the color, its DJ2, which is black emerald pearl. I like it a lot, here are some pics after I cleaned it up. New fenders are going on and I have to tend to the rust spots too.

After I detailed it

$2500, I thought it was a good deal. There are some things that need to be replaced, but I"m going to transfer all my mods over from the other car, so it will all be taken care of. The only issue left will be teh front seats which are pretty worn, eventually I'd like to get new covers from katzkin.com when I can afford it.

Wow! That's incredible for a fully loaded 5 speed. I paid $5300 for mine this past February. What kind of cosmetic issues does yours have?

Fenders have rust on the bottom of them like many 4th gens do, but I got new fenders with the car. There is some rust under the left tail light, and a little bit on the right rocker panel. But once I replace the fenders, and do a little body work on the side it will be just fine. The antenna was also stuck up, but I removed it and used the one from the other car.

A couple of things that maybe someone else can help me with. I had the hoods popped up on both cars next to eachother just looking at differences, is the EGR in a different location on manuals than on autos? There is nothing there on the manual where my EGR is on the auto. There are holes for where it mounts to, but nothing is there. Not sure what the deal is.

Also, on the tranny's we have that mystery hose that connects to nothing, pointing downward. Well where it connects to the tranny, it is leaking a little bit. Any tips for fixing that?

I wont be doing it until the spring anyways, as you know buffalo gets a lot of snow. One of the cars will be in the garage and the other max is in the driveway, we have 4 cars so I dont have space to put them both in there to work all winter. But I'll keep you posted.

Is the interior leather? If so, I have the identical car that I bought new. I had it Diamond Coated, leather protected and rust proofed when brand new.

It helps to apply the leather protector periodically. I used to do it twice a year along with the Diamond coat protector, but got lazy a number of years ago and now pay to get the car detailed once a year. The back seats still look brand new as I have no kids or pets.

If you are talking about the 5spd. I believe it is just a vent hose. On mine it goes up near the valve cover then back down, probably just to keep the fluid from spilling. Mine without the hose on leaks very slightly also

yes it has tan leather interior. The back seats are ok on my car, but I the fronts were not taken care of at all. I'll prob end up doing a black interior swap anyways and getting new black leather seats or something like that.

You may find that the tan leather grows on you after a while. Tan leather seats are also a lot cooler in summer than black seats. Just to hedge your bets, you might want to apply leather protector to the rear seats and spruce up the dash and console while you're deciding what to do.

Yep thanks, I cleaned up the whole car the day I brought it home and i made sure to take care of the seats. Its just the vinyl on the edges that is worn badly, the seating surface is fine though.

I have a STS coming tomorrow, which I am excited about. It's a CE STS, yea I know a lot of you have complained about it, but I"ll see if I have any issues with it. New leather boots too The 5spd is 1341248172419 times better than the auto, I dont know how I got by w/o it thinking the car was decent before (performance wise)
