ECU problem

I have had a problem with 0807 (EVAP Canister purge control valve/ solenoid valve circuit). I took it in to the mechanic because I need to get it done fast to pass emissions this month and didn't have time to look at it. Well he tells me the purge valve works correctly, but the ground wire going to the ECU is screwed up at/in the ECU and I need a new ECU to fix the problem.

Has anyone else heard of this before? He said it might have to do with all the non factory wiring in the engine bay. I know it doesn't because none of it has anything to do with an electrical part that goes through the ECU. I was thinking/hoping I could just ground it before the ECU and it should work correctly. Is this possible? Please someone help me out.

EVAP errors are common in our cars and sometimes hard to diagnoss correctly. I have a hard time believing your mechanic's diagnossis. Get a second opinion or take it to Nissan. Wires don't just fail, especially at or inside the ECU itself. Makes no sense....

That's what I was thinking. I know they tested the purge valve and it worked correctly, they just said it was a bad ground wire. Like I said before it was possibly from extra wires I used, but they only were used on lights and lighting rewires and I don't know how it could swrew up just one part of the ECU. I didn't really want to take it to somewhere else because this cost $92 just did diagnose the problem and didn't want to spend it again.

Bump because I am brooke and need it fixed by the end of the month. Anyone know if I could just ground that wire myself and have it work correctly if that is the problem?
