tokico springs question

i bought the set of tokico illuminas + tokico springs combo from ebay from a seller by the name of 'JDMWERKS' and the package arrived yesterday. i opened the box to find RED springs...i thought the tokico springs are SILVER, from https://maxima.org/modules.php?name=TISI

did i get the right parts?? can anybody that recently bought the tokico springs confirm?

EBay springs

Are these sets of springs on EBay any good?
Just yesterday I was looking around, and spotted some called 'Tein' or something similar. And what are all these 'coilover' adverts?
Don't want to get burned buying junk..

Those red springs are made by Vogtland. I could be wrong but I believe that Vogtland makes the springs for Tokico. You, me and some others have also gotten these springs from JDMWerks, and I don't think enough has been written about the great quality of these springs.

I have the illuminas. The ride is good and the drop isnt too aggressive. Its about 1.5-1.8 inches. I have mine set pretty stiff 4 in the front and 5 in th rear. You will be happy with them.

Never heard that before. All of mine came shipped in one box and everything was marked Tokico.

maximus_96, please post how the max rides and handles after your install. I'm thinking about doing the same thing, except I have a 99 GLE.

In reply to CLIVE...The cheapo coil overs from ebay is "JUNK". They don't even fit on the front struts. Also, your car will feel like it'll break in two everytime you go over any bump if you do manage to fit them on...

That's funny, I'm actually in the process of selling my old H&R's. I really like the the Vogtland springs compared to the H&R's, at least with the Illumina's. And no, I've got a buyer, so no inquiries about the springs. I mean it.

update: installed the springs/struts yesterday. took me most of the day cus i was doing it all by myself. i initially left both fronts and back at 3...the car felt so flat and planted around corners...i thought installing the rear sway bar a year ago was a huge difference, but now its even better. i didn't try the other settings yet. whats the best combo for comfort? my pregnant wife drives it most of the time and soon my baby girl will be riding in it. should i just put 5 and 5 on both front and rear?

Just to let everyone know the springs Tokico makes are red. The ones custommaxima sells are the red ones painted and tokico painted any for custommaxima in a while.

no, because you have to reuse some old parts from your stock struts. it was easy to put on, didn't need to compress the tokicos springs at all.
