95-96 Clearance Lights in 97-99?
I may have asked this question a year or two ago, but I'm still curious....
Like the 3rd gen Maxima, 95-96 Maximas utilize both filaments of the 1157 bulb in their clearance lights (the lights next to the headlights). When you hit the left turn signal, the left clearance light gets brighter to help light up the side you're turning to. In the 97-99 Maxima, for some extremely stupid reason, Nissan kept the 1157 dual filament bulb but did away with this nice feature. In other words, the bright filament is never used. It's really lame, especially because I can't really see how it saved them much money.
Has anyone taken the harness/wiring from a 95-96 clearance light and installed it on a 97-99? Theoretically it would work, unless something changed in the ECU.
If there's no easy way to do it, I'm just gonna have to suck it up and do the bright clearance light mod.

I have little electrical knowledge but thanks anyway! I was thinking if it was simply plug and play with a 95-96 harness that would be great, but if I have to wire it myself it may not be worth it.

hold up, you said 3rd gen are 95 96? i thought 95+ were 4th gens?
in my 95 the side marker light (next to the turn signal) lights up brighter but not the light next to the headlight (your clearence light)
i just bought better 1157 LED bulbs to make my lights next to the headlight yellowish and brighter. they havent arrived yet.

No, I didn't say that. Read the second sentence carefully.
89-94 3rd gen
95-96 4th gen AKA "4.0 gen"
97-99 4th gen AKA "4.5 gen"
Are you sure your clearance light doesn't get brighter when you have the turn signal on?
