why didnt it work guys?.........

hey Maybe you guys can help me. I am trying to rewire my fog lights so they can turn on independant or the other way with the park lights on.
My fogs lights are oem but I had them installed in the car with the oem switch too. I tried to follow the HOW TO stickies and did everything correctly but it didn't work.
I took some pics of the way my fogs were installed and the relay box, maybe it can be clear why it wont work to you guys.

First pic shows an extra relay installed with the fogs, that green wire is run to the regular fog relay, if i unplug that green wire the fogs dont work at all, so i guess that the power?

there is the green wire tapping into the regular fog relay.

here is that extra relay added when my fogs were installed:

The blue wire has no use in the relay
The red wire is ran to the inside of the dash somewhere....dont know
The black and white wires are grounded.
The green wire is ran to the fog relay, if i take this wire out the fogs dont work.

Do you guys have suggestions or can tell me what am I doing wrong. I have more pics if you need me to show them.
Thanks

Hey guys this pic shows what i did so far

I cut that green/yellow wire( you can see the electrical tape wrapped around it) and attached a 4inch wire to tap into that light green wire from the wiper relay( you can see that i just spliced it)

these are the steps from the stickies but I know that extra relay and that green wire tapping into the fog relay has something to do with the fact that it doesnt work for me.
Thanks for the help guys.

Who installed them?

That's not an OEM job (i.e. plugging the OEM fogs in, replacing the stalk, maybe adding a blue relay and calling it a day), that is completely custom wiring it looks like. Was your installer aware that the fog harness was already there, even if you didn't have fogs from the factory?

I guess he wasnt aware of it. thats why he added that relay I guess, but he also taps into that oem fog relay with that blue wire. when I remove that wire from the oem relay, the fogs dont work.
thanks for the reply guys.

The OEM set up is as follows:

the switch sends ground to the relay (pin 85 or 86) green and orange wire

the low beams send +12v to the relay (opposite pin of the gound either 85 or 86) green and yellow wire

+12v power is from fuse #54 (1995) or #63 1996-1999 15 amps to the relay (pin 30) orange wire

the fogs connect to the relay (pin 87) orange and black wire

your wires should be:

blue wire - Pin 87a not used
Black wire - Pin 30 fused power from battery
Green wire - Pin 87 to fog lights
White wire - Pin 85 to on off switch (ground)
Red wire - Pin 86 to +12v accessory so it shuts off with the car

then ground the fogs to the chassis.

Thanks Jsutter , I am pretty sure thats the way they hooked it up. I will go look at it and double check. So now after I do that then how I can rewire the fogs to go on independantly?

Thanks

give the relay 12 volts from an accessory wire (on and off with the key) to pin 86. this way the fogs will turn on when the switch is on and the key is on.

Thanks for the info man, just to clarify, I'll run a wire from maybe the wiper relay providing it with 12v into my red wire on that extra relay?

This will make the fogs go on even with out the headlights on right?.

Thanks

sorry for my inexpertise (then make switch on the dash?). What do you mean?

the white wire and black wire are already grounded from that extra relay. you can see them in the pic I took.

Thanks for your help.
