Failing Axle

I'm getting some play internally in my driver's side axle (ie. I can hold a piece on one side of a jount and turn the piece on the other side). There is not alot but more than there should be. I think there should be no play. I'm guessing that this is causing the hallacious crunching noise in my front end when I turn right and don't use brakes or gas. I replaced both axles last winter with rebuilt axles. I don't know whether the rebuilds are known for weakness.

Has anyone ever encountered this with their maxima? If so then please let me know. I'm guessing the axle is the source of the noise but I'm not sure.

There should be no play. You have a bad joint. It's time to replace that axle.
