ks problem

Recently, I feel my max isn't pulling like it used to. So I went to pull codes and got a 0304. I read on the stickies about using an ohmmeter to test the ks. So I did..... I unpluged the clear/black harnest and put the positive(red) to the prongs and negative (black) to my negative terminal of my battery.... I tried both prongs and came out with no reading... does that mean the ks is dead? If it was dead, would it give a low reading rather than nothing at all? If i did anything wrong, please guide me through this....

So no other codes are posted right? i.e. the only code you pulled was 0304?

if yes, then it's time for a new knock sensor.

There was a great deal two weeks (or so) ago on ebay for knock sensors, less than $70 shipped IIRC. See if you can find it. O/wise, pinncle nissan used to have knock sensors for 79 bucks shipped.

You know, I never had any damn luck ohming out the knock sensor while it was on the car. And then get this, my car kept throwing 0304, so I finally said, to heck with it, I'll just replace the darn thing... so I take it off the car and ohm it out and .... 550kohms... I was like :wtflol: but the housing was cracked... I just popped in the new one and have been since... Keep driving and see if the 0304 comes back. The fact that you reset the ECU and it didn't post the 0304 - means you should have seen some change in driveability... did you notice anything? There is a BIG difference when driving with a bad KS and a good KS..

it does drive better. but i dont know if its from the sensor or cause i started my 60k tuneup yesterday. new plugs, oil change, tightned my throtle cable, tranny flush. i didnt get a chance to gun it but it did feel better than it used to... i might as well buy a new ks and get rid of the problem.... since i didnt get any other codes...

I also got the 0304 code and my max was running sluggish at lower rpm's. After I reset the ecu I never got the 0304 code back and its been about 600 miles since. For me resetting the ecu fixed my probs but you might want to recheck to see if the code is back.
