Get it measured. You may just end up being SOL.

Tell the guy to go F*ck himself. Ive never heard of an inspection center failing a vehicle because of tint. What state are you in? If all else fails, go to a Nissan dealer and have it inspected there. You may have to leave it overnight, but it will be worth the wait and its the same price.

Yeah this is bull**** though. The Tint IS illeagal though. I live in maryland and id say the tint is like 20 percent. thats why he wants me to take it to the MVA and have it measured. The owner before me had the windows tinted, so this isnt my fault. I should have told his *** to take the tint off. Im going to peel the tint off, but right after inspection im getting tint put back on. Waste of god damn money.

I've never heard of that but that's one thing i don't understand is why shops put tint on a car knowing that it's illegal u think that they wouldn't even allow a shop to sell tint under a certain percentage..just somethin to think about

You live in Maryland? Seriously, they have slack tint laws compared to Virginia (where I live). I dont know what this guy is talking about, I know many people with darker tint that you have that live in Maryland and they havent had any probs. I have 35% tint all around which is illegal in VA and I havent had any probs. There are many inspection places, I think even Jiffy lube will do it. Dont take off your tint, this shouldnt be that big of a problem.

Consider yourselves lucky!! Here in NJ, you aren't allowed to have ANY tint on the windshield or two front windows. If you do have any % tint that doesn't come from the factory on the two front windows you will fail inspection. You are allowed to have any % tint on the all other windows.

I'm in the same boat because I bought my car with 20% tint on the windows already done by the previous owner. Now, before I take it for inspection in March, I have to peel it off the two front windows. I agree...it sucks!!

Take your car to a local shop to get it inspected. Usually they don't care. They're happy to get your business.

Yea, just take it to a local shop and get it inspected there. They usually don't give a damn about tint because usually they're too lazy to do everything on the checklist. Take it to a Shell station and just have some mechanic do it and you'll be straight.

To remove tint: all you need is some Windex WITH ammonia in it, that is the BLUE kind...

FOr tint owners, make sure your local car washers dont use BLUE windex on your tint hehehehe

Make sure they are using ammonia-free windex on your windows!

????

May I embarrass myself and ask you guys what the heck you mean by "inspection"? Just curious...

Here in California, where it is illegal to tint the front two windows, I have made it 6 years between my Max and My Audi with 35% tint with one warning only.

<>Thanks for the Tip<>

I never knew that blue windex is bad for tints. Once again maxima.org rocks....

yes the blue windex will make your tint fade in color, that's why you see those cars running around with purple tint, the guys who put tint on my cars as well as my friends said specifically not to use window cleaner with amonia in them, it will make the tint change in color. I have never had a problem with finding non-amonia window cleaner most car washes only use the non. However I have been told that the newer lumar film that is metalic instead of dyed, it will not hurt the tint to use the amonia window cleaner on them, however don't quote me on that, just something I heard
