Usual cost to replace an axle seal--- Tranny side?

Well i brought it to a mechanic of mine and he said its about an hour and a half labor. and will cost around 200$ . THis is what he told me.

He pulled on the passenger axle and said "do you hear that clicking noise" I said yea, he said that its possible their might be some play in it. He said what this does is the play causes the gasket to get chewed up therefore causing the leak. Is this true ? I think he also said something about replacing the bushing too.

1.5 hours, what's the labor rate? Price should be ~ 20$ ... I can't remember where I got mine from but I know it wasn't more than 20$ for the seal and 1.5hrs of labor.

So with that said, I;m guessing he's trying to rape you on the seal itself since simple mathamatics would lean toward ~ 75$ for total labor, and the rest for the seal.

he told me the seal was about 15-20 , and the bushing was around that price too. Along with topping off the tranny fluid.
