Buy A New Or Fix Up Old Max..
Well..im currently stuck between making a decision. Come springtime im thinking of selling my current max, i bought it at a dealer auction 2 months ago, and it was my first car, so you know i was hasty in my decision. I didnt look into options, sunroof, leather, heated seats, none of that crap. Again..i was hasty. Now after owning the car, im sick of not having a sunroof, and no heated mirrors or stuff like that. After research, i realized i have a 98 gxe, the base model, no extra stuff. I realize all that stuff can be aded in later, but totals in cost from attempting to put in a auto-sunroof, black leather heated seats, heated mirrror, and doing a auto-manual swap is easily looking like a $4000 adventure. Personally, i wouldnt mind spending that much but. I bluebooked the price of the car, and bluebook price sets it at 5,300. Pretty nice seeing as i payed 2300 for a it ( i knew a car dealer and he took me to acar dealer auction....damn they got DEALS ). Seeing as i could probably get away with selling it for $5000 to someone, would you think it would be smarter for me to go back to the auction, and buy a SE ( black leather, heated seats, mirrors, sunroof, stick ) for $3000, and on top of that sell this current max for teh ...well i'll be real and say the $4500 i'll probably get for it and use that money to do complete maintanence on the new car. OR just keep this and mod the crap outta it. Which way would you guys think is more trouble free and problematic. And if i do this, i plan to buy it in the springtime cuz ...well...winters are harsh...that and learnin to drive stick in the snow isnt fun ^_^.

Having the SE is great with all the luxaries, but if you want a fast car, the GXE is a lot lighter. On show the SE will probably better, considering that it has foglights and all the other special features. If you could sell the GXE, do that then buy the SE.

no brainer, i think.
i would say keep your current one through the winter (keep it in good shape/condition) and be looking for an SE with what you want, or close to it. then buy the SE and put the GXE upfor sale immwediately after you find an SE or in the spring.

yea, i mean i was gonna go back to this dealer auction and see if i can find one. i mean as long as i can get a max already with black leather, the foglights, sunroof, and stick, i figure i save a goot 2 - 3g's of money of which i'd have to spend on my current GXE to make it that way. and na, im mroe for show with the car then racing it, if im gonna hook up a car to race it, i want it to do 9's :-D ..

Keep the GXE until the spring. Find a low-mileage SE with all the options you want.
Forget about hooking up the car and racing it. You'll end up f#cking it up and it will cost you nothing but money.
A GXE is not significantly lighter than an SE - how much can a set of foglights, a sunroof, leather interior and different wheels weigh - peanuts at the end of the day.
Just drive around with less gas in the tank, lol!
