4g3n vs 5th

i just notice that 2000 maxima got 222hp. and has the same 3.0L engine. is it the same vq30 that's in the 4gen, and if it is, the VI00 is the only diff? what i mean is 5th gen variable intake will increase hp by like 30hp?

Yes. Definitely if its a 95 or 96 4th Gen. They are the fastest stock 3.0VQ Maximas.

Not necessarily. Also depends on what you mean by fastest.

as an answer to your question YES i have a friend with a 2k1 5spd and we race 3 times just to be sure! i won the 3 races by a car or less! we didn't know at that time actually i thougt: he is gonna kick my ***! but doing some internet search we found the 222 HP in the 2k1 but more weight!

2k & 2k1maxima = Weights: weight (kg) 1,451
4gen maxima = Weights: weight (kg) 1,361

i guess that was the diference because both car were stock's

My barebones 95SE 5 speed is a lot quicker than my fully-loaded-with-every-bloody-option-you-could-get 99SE.

My 95 also got a lot better fuel economy than my 99 does now. I blame the big-**** stereo, heavy heated leather seats, sunroof, and the Auto-climate control. They all drain more power than my stock/no options added 95SE.

Weight is everything when it comes to acceleration.

weight of the 5th gens forces them to be slower in the quarter mile, also reason why 5th gen 0-60 should be less than a 4th gen. 0-90 a 4th gen should be slightly faster but on a roll or even 20 mph + a 5th gen should walk a 4th gen.

Also, what makes the 5th gen so much heavier? besides a bigger body? Maybe those 17's vs 4th gen 16's?

222 hp/ 214 tq vs 190 hp/ 205 tq means nothing if u dont know when that power kicks in...

well i feel a little better about my decision then. I was looking at 5th gens but got a 4th because it was a little cheaper. Later read about the 00vi and felt bad, thank you for that comparison link nismology

DEK engine has slightly hotter cams as well.

A 5th gen will walk a 4th gen from a roll due to the VI.
