Factory Alarm
How can I tell if the factory alarm is still instaled? My car didnt come with the key fob and I want to get one. Security light is there and flashes. How can I tell if the factory alarm is in there? The previous owners had an aftermarket installed also, but that was dissconnected. Could the factory alarm still be in working order?

It's impossible to say if the factory alarm still works, but it's likely that it does.
Since you have the blinking security light, all you need is to get a fob and then try to program it (instructions are in the FAQ sticky).
You can either beg/borrow/steal a fob from someone else with a 4th Gen maxima, or you can get one off Ebay for 15-20 bucks.

Here's how to check your factory alarm. Open your windows. Shut the doors. Use the key and lock the drivers side door.
Then reach inside the car through the open window, open the lock with your hand, and open the door from the outside.
If your horns start to honk, your alarm is working.
To shut this off, take the key and unlock the car via the driver's door or the trunk. These are the only two locks that will disarm the factory alarm.
