I've been sound deadening my door panels over the weekend, and I've unplugged the negative cable from the battery.

Just a few minutes ago, I put the negative cable back onto the battery, and the alarm went off very loud. My father and I didn't know what to do...so I just disconnected it again.

My first suggestion was to unlock the door when I put the cable back on...no success. We tried many strategies to try to get the cable back on without the alarm going off...

then I had an idea...I connected the driver's window controls and electronic trunk release....and then I reconnected the negative cable. Yes, the alarm went off again, but I unlocked the driver side door and the alarm went off (like it usually would if the alarm goes off).

my question is..do i need a power connection of some sort to prevent the alarm from going off?

I'm still working on the panels and I'm planning to drive the car to school bare tomrrow.

I'm in serious need for solutions...thank you.

That happened to me too. Everytime I connected the negative terminal back I would have to alarm controller in my hand, so I could unarm it before it went off
You can also just turn off your alarm. There should be a switch to do so.

i have a 96 GXe

i don't have a remote

the only way i can turn the alarm off is by unlocking all of the doors. but it didn't work for some reason (maybe because there weren't any connnectors to the locks of the doors since i removed the panels.

Sure there is no switch to turn it off?
If that is really the case, why don't you directly disconnect the power to the alarm?

If that is really the case, why don't you directly disconnect the power to the alarmare you unlocking the car with the remote or the key yu should use the key lock then unlock the door and the alarm should shut off..good luck

it's a little confusing..

i used my key lock to unlock all of the doors (clicking to the right twice..) but since all of the panels were gone and disconnected, it changed something.

that's what i'm trying to figure out. by disconnect the panels does that affect how the alarm works?
