Battery Died. Which one to get?
The Holiday season is starting out just great for me.
I need a new battery so the Autozone Free check says. I have been having starting trouble and hence I took it to Autozone to make sure it wasn't the battery. The guy said I needed a new Battery.
So, what battery to get? I don't know if I want to get the Optima (too expensive and I don't have a fancy stereo systems so do I need it?).
Is any brand OK? Any folks prefer one brand over the other?
I was thinking of going to Sears and getting a battery there. Any harm in that?
Thanks

Thanks for the replies.
I also searched google and found that the NAPA Legend 7535 was rated the best by Consumer Reports. Any one have that one? Is that any good?
Thanks.

bump before going to bed. Need more feedback as I will be buying a battery tomorrow. At my local sears, the DieHard Gold is $89.99. At the local Autozone, the Optima Redtop is 104 or 107. So, if the consensus is the DieHard then might as well go the Red Top route right?
BTW. The NAPA Legend I mentioned will run me $60.99 + tax.

Ok. Final Status.
Went o NAPA. The Legend is a 18 month full replacement and 75 month prorated brand. That was actually $59.99 at the store. So, I got second thoughts and went to Sears. I have the 24F battery (my luck I guess coz the Sears system showed two batteries for the Max. The 35 series and the 24F). The 24F was $86.99 with core replacement.
I was pretty sure I had seen $107 at the Autozone. So, I went back home and called Autozone as they are quite further than Sears. The dude there said the price for the 75/35 Optima Red Top was actually $124.99. I could not believe that as I am pretty sure their price by the battery was $107 or something. So I went to Autozone.com. The price on there for the 75/35 Red Top was $109.99.
So, called Sears back and asked if they could price match. The guy ran the deal by his manager and lo and behold the deal was approved. So, I got the Optima Red Top 75/35 for $106.75 AFTER the 110% Price Match and a $0.75 core tax.
I suppose the state (the crooks they are) charge you for the Core's value's worth of tax which at Sears is $10 and our tax rate here in Mecklenburg is 7.5%
Sorry for the long story
.

Here is a link to the page I printed and took to Sears. The local Autozone I called quoted me $134.99 but their website had $109.88. So I called Sears and said if they'd PM the Autozone price of $109.88 and that I had a Printout of the price off of Autozone website. The guy ran it by his manager and gladly PM'd the price.
