Switching a 98 max ECU to a 95 max!!

Anyone know if the computer(ECU) on a 98 maxima can be switched for use on a 95 maxima? Will it cause any harm..i.e blow the circuits, blah blah....Please let me know if you have had any experience with this..

I wouldn't recommend it, but if you switched a pin here and there I am sure it will work.

You may have a CEL from possible missing emissions equipment since 95's have less of them

you can use any 4th gen ecu for any year 4th gen, but you will get a CEL, the emissions equipment is different.

What if you had a 97 Infiniti I30 and you wanted a JWT ECU? Since they do not modify the 97 ECU, but they do mod 96s and 98s, is there a particular year that I should look for that will have similar enough emissions equipment (since that seems to be the main foible with the swap) not to trigger a CEL? Thanks.

They don't do 98's. Just 95-96 ECU's.

I can almost promise you that you will get a CEL no matter what when running a different year ECU. I have ran several different ECU's and am currently using a 98 auto maxima ECU.

What is your concern with the CEL? For me it is just passing emmissions, so I just make sure I always have my stock computer available if I need to get tested. Besides having a CEL all the time it doesn't really matter.
