Where to buy Optima Battery ?
Well went to start my car this morning in the fri*in snow and all I was got was a very fast click click click from the battery..
Looks like I need a battery now..where do I buy an optima battery and what one do I look for ?? red or yellow top ??
Should I even bother getting an optima top or should I just run down to Sears and get that ??

AUTOZONE HAS THEM TOO.....if u have some stereo equipment YELLOW TOP....if u just want starting power RED TOP....
I use the yellow because i have an amp in my car.....i never had a problem in sub-zero buffalo winters with starting issues.....so u can decide....

Yea I wound up going down to the Fire House and got the courdless batt pack...came home and jumped it. Ill figure out what I'm going to do next week..Ive had this battary for like years and only recently have been hving problems. usually a fast click from the battary, I get out of the car, wiggle the batt posts, get back in the car and it starts. I think the Posts are lose inside the battery.
It would be need to get an optima, but Im sure I really need it

I don't recommend such an expensive battery, but I believe Costco has them for far less that the above.

optimas are not the best. they are popular beacuse they are spill and vibration resistant, oh well its also a pretty color. imo big whoop. autozone has duralast batterys, one is red and the other yellow, same bling factor IMO. they really dont have any more power than any other battery, especially at its price range. they may however last a bit longer.
you are better off looking at batterys in your price range and group size with the highest CCA #.
the yellow top is just a deep cycle battery.
optimas are made buy or with other compaines

i hope you are joking. around here they are $99 with a core.

Sears PMed an On-Line Autozone price of $109.00 for me. So, mine was $106.75 + tax. The local Autozone did not have the $109.00 price but the Autozone web site listed the price at that store as 109.99.

Well I did a search on the Optima Site and it sais I need the 35 series battery
AutoZone doesnt have them in stock and they tried ordering it and the computer said the company is out of stock. Pepboys was out of stock as well and tried ordering it and NO luck.
I called up Jegs and they cant search for the battery that I need.
Im out of source to where to buy.
It appears that the 96 is a Bigger battery..anyone with a Optima in a 96 have a part number

you can use the other sizes but in some cases you need to strech or modify the cables/terminals. there is a great thread on ones that fit in the 5th gen section. ther are a few models that fit without modification.
my dad has the duralast gold and its been good to him. i was interested in the duralast red, which is on par with the battery im running now, a ever start lol. its had good cranking power in these freezing temps.
if you didnt like sears from the get go why did you look at them? you knew you didnt like them so what was the point in posting about it? it stinks that you cant find the red top locally.

i have been looking at batteries lately since i new mine was on its way out. last night i had to jump start it cuz i left the blower motor on for 10 minutes. this morning it wouldnt start at all. i ended up buying the optima red top 75/25. it was instock locally and i needed it quick. plus i couldnt resist the color, hehe. it was $115 with tax, no core .

u you will be fine with a little smaller battery....dimesion wise.....the only trouble u will run into will be ur tie down....just gotta rig somethign up to make it fit right...the optima is not as tall as OEM thats it...i had no issues with cables when mine was in my 96 or my 98

the optimas are shorter than stock. you have 2 options.
1) use the red spacer to raise the battery up. the stock j hooks will reach.
2) buy different j hooks. stock are 8" with a short amount threads. i bought new 8" hooks with more threads and they work fine, but im going to get 6" ones so there wont be so much threads sticking up.

So what do you guys recommend on someone with a moderate audio system consisting of 2 amplifiers (4channel + a mono amp)? The mono amp is below 500 watts RMS. The 4channel amp is not big at all. I'm hoping I don't need a deep cycle battery since I really don't play my system while parked.

Do the posts actually move when you wiggle the posts? If that's the case, then you can ignore this post.
