Rear wheel bearings

On the 96 I just purchased with 220K miles, I have a light growl in the rear that sounds like bearings. I suspect this may be a dealer only item, but I have only checked with Auto Zone and no go. Any suggestions guys? your responses are appreciated.

Make sure it's not noisey tires first.

NAPA does not show this as an available item either. I should be replacing the wheels and tires soon, and I will not do anything until then . Good comment about the tires tho. I was just checking to see if this has been a problem on higher milage Maximas.

Yes, it can be an issue on a high mileage Maxima. I just replaced them on my 98 with 213K. You cannot get them at AZone, neither can you replace only the bearings themselves. They only come as the entire hub assembly.

I found some nice used ones on car-part.com for a lot cheaper. They are from a 100K Max. They should outlive the remainder of my car with no problem. Plus they are a cinch to change, nothing as difficult as the front bearings.
