Hi guys, I have 4 sets of wheels from a 2001 maxima SE. They are 17 inch and the tire size I have on them right now is 225/50/17. I was wondering if I would be able to order 215/45/17 and put them on these wheels? Please help me asap because I need to order the tires asap for the winter. Thanks

 

it'll work... but you're gonna loose some wheel diameter... why not do 225/45/17
thats closer to stock. or 235/45/17 for that matter...
and 225/50/17 is a little to big

 

Well if I get 215/45/17, it wont affect performance? if it does, does it make a big difference?

 

215 is just a little narrow... i mean it's not a big deal. the biggest problem is your wheel is going to be smaller than stock, so your speedometer is gonna read a liltte fast, and your gonna have to keep it at a higher rpm for the same speed... although you will feel a little quicker maybe... (also larger uglier wheel gap if you're not lowered)

stock size for 4th gen is 215/55/16 put that into that web site and then compare other tire sizes to the right of it. 235/45/17 is a perfect match, diameter wise. And putting a wider tire will give the car more grip.

i would spend the xtra dollars and get 235/45/17....if money is the issue....gogo tire rack find Sumitomo HTRZs they are great tire for like 65 bux a piece
