hey man I see in the 3rd gen foruum alot when i looking for parts for my 1992. The 99 maximas have mega coilpack issues....more so than the 92 VE. They also have EVAP/emissions ISSUES. Good Luck Most people get used 95-98 coils they are all the same. You can change the knock sesnor without removing the manifold.

not bad the coil packs are a snap to change. and thats great news to hear the knock sensor is changable without removing the manifold. Im actually picking up the car on monday night. my 2 hour test drive went well with it so hopefully the coils are ok but we will find out. only thing is i have to get a 2nd key fob cause there is only one. other than that she was runnin good. ill just change all the fluids on tuesday since i dont REALLY know its prior maintenance. man i cant wait to start moddin that car first i want the clear blinkers in the front with amber polarg bulb and the red clear tails next.....

for 99s you have to go to the dealer for a 2nd key to be made (due to the microchip) this costs about $100.

From what I've heard the 4th gen autos are more reliable than the manuals. Check for leaking tranny oil before and after you test drive it.
