AC makes noise

my maxima makes some kind of a clicking noise when the AC is on. it sounds really irritating even with the music on. what can this be?

What is making the noise? The compressor under the hood, the cooling fans under the hood or the cabin fan inside the car?

You probably have a leaf or something stuck in the fan.
Take it apart and inspect the fan and the motor.

Why is your ac on anyway? Do you mean when the compressor is on? Where does the noise sound like it's coming from?
