Look at my Clutch!!!

Notice the sheered metal edges, and the spring that is no longer in place.

This is what happens when you redline 2nd gear and then stick it back into 1st!

And no it wasn't me driving.

While I was in there I replaced the Main Seal, both half shafts, both ball joints, and of course the clutch. Entire project (doing labor myself) about $620.

Ouch! Seen that several times.

Did you replace the whole control arm or just press in new ball joints?

Here's a tip, never let anybody beat on your car. No one but me drives mine. I don't know how cold it is over there, but i know how hard it is to replace a clutch and tranny when you can't feel your fingers. Good job in doing the whole thing yourself, and make sure there wasnt any damage done to your tranny. Also, i hope you replaced your throwout bearing.

I've seen cases worse than this, where the clutch disk actually came out of the hood and put some pretty decent sized holes in the tranny and block. Mostof those were when the person was going 120+ and then put it in 3rd....

Oh and i have a propain heater to heat my garage. BEST INVESTMENT EVER!!!

It's a credit to the VQ that it took that abuse.

this doesn't make sense, if you redlined on 2nd, how do you engage it back into first???

wasn't there a stop to 1st gear engagement unless you are at really low speeds (5-10mph)??? I know at 15 if I force it back into 1st gear, it'll grind like a motha...

Explain please.

I'm not sure, it was in there when i bought it. Still had quite a bit of wear left on it so i don't think it was very old, so probably not stock.

heh my brother was driving my previous 95 max on the freeway.....while racing a z28 he shifted to reverse instead of 4th.......the tires screetched like they were in agony and the car turned off.....we pulled over turned the car back on and NOTHING happened to tranni/clutch(act 2100)...don't ask me how he managed to get it in reverse while going about 90, but he did....

With mine you can go into reverse from any gear. But you can't just pull straight down from 5th and go into reverse, it makes you job over a little first.

wow. i can't put my car into 1st unless i'm goin 5mph like the other guy said. obviously i don't wanna jam it in, but even if i go straight forward out of 2nd, it guides me into 3rd. don't let ppl drive your car. i don't. you shouldn't. omg, i would charge that guy the $620 + labor. and reverse? ****, i wouldn't think it would go into reverse at all if it was a manual! mine makes funny noises if i'm rolling forward at even .1 mph. ouch. my sister put the car in reverse (automatic) in her olds, it was hilarous. we were goin forwards @ 40mph and the car dipped forward like crazy, she freaked out and jammed it back into D. incredible stupidity, she's never drivin my car. sorry to hear it bro, don't let stupid ppl even look at your car.

WOW many different stories here. Man that clutch is like blasted to he|| and back. I heard of many girls shifting there car from Drive to Reverse and making the car stop or make it jerk like crazy. Sorry about half of these stories, but to make it short and simple as other guys has said " don't let stupid ppl driver your valuable car"

That looks like a Nissan Key-value Daiken disc. Is there an emblem with a DK or something on it?

I dont know how you guys are getting into these gears. If its over 15mph 1st gear if out of the question, unless the hulk is driving. Same with reverser, unless unless I grind it into reverse. . . or again the hulk is driving.
