Disapointed with Mitsubishi Galant VR6

Dissapointed in the V6 Galant

Came to a light (double left turn) and I hear revin' behind me. I looked behind and it was a Galant taunting me. Nice lookin' car. I knew it was on as soon as we could get to open space. Light turned and we made it to the head of the pack and stopped at the next light. Perfect, eh?
He was gettin' crazy with the RPM's so I knew he was stick and had exhaust. Green light, I mashed it to the floor and looked back. I couldn't believe it, I was almost 2 cars ahead of him by the time I hit 50.
My turn was the next light so I turned and he followed. He told me that he had exhaust and intake done on it. He said his car is a dog off the line, but if I wanted to race him from 30 up he would kill me. Don't know about that, but...
Personally I liked the cars. Dissapointment. He should have bought a max.
BTW, he said that his engine is the same as the eclipse, is this true???

I knew you were going to kill him before reading this story. Galants have nothing to offer.

It's a high 8 0-60 16 second 1/4 car. Kinda pathetic with that much power. The Galant VR4 is a better match. Too bad almost all of them that still exist are modded (I know of two in my family myself).

agree.
the VR4 from the former gen is much better if modded. the current gen GTZ... well, that's the first one I test drove b/4 buying the Maxima. I left the dealership with a disappointed look on my face.

was this an OLD galant, or a brand new one. you said VR6, well, theres no such thing as a VR6 galant. Theres a VR4, which is AWD Turbo, eclipse GSX drivetrain... he would have destroyed you off the line, so im assuming it was not one of those. If it was one of the new V6 galants... he wouldnt beat you anywhere, off the line, 0-60, 0-100, 1/4, whatever, you'd beat him.

I don't think the V6 comes in 5-speed. I'm sure of it actually. He was auto. If it was 5-speed, it was the 4 banger.

More info

Well ZuMBLe, was right. I checked on the GTZ and the ES with a V6 neither even have a stick as an option.
I do have to say he must have been puttin' in N to rev the crap out of it like he was. Even more disapointing.
Oh well.

don't confuse V6 and VR4

you will kill a V6

the VR4 will kill you

VR6's are from VW

Actually VR4s won't kill you, unless someone put in an aftermarket turbo(which both of my family's VR-4s have). Stock they are about as fast as a stock Max 0-60 and a little faster in the 1/4.

I think there is a Mitsubishi Galant VR6... its a 280hp 2.5L V6 Turbo... AWD... its pretty damn sweet... the new Galants are pieces of crap... they dont even look good (check out the ones being sold in Asia, they look bad ***)
the same engine as an Eclipse V6 and it does 9 second 0-60s according to motortrend

The VR6 you are referring to is ONLY offered in Japan. It has the Japanese cap of 276 HP, and is MUCH better than the US version (BTW, the Galants V6 is detuned). I disagree with the ugly comment, I think they look quite alot like a Bimmer, quite cool looking.

I think the new Galants look real nice.. I almost bought one (A GTZ) before I purchased my maxima. Im better off with the max huh?..
