Second Thoughts About HID's

Just ordered the HELIOS 9K HID's, but after reading several old threads seems like alot of people complain of the glare. Anyone else have this setup? Thanks!

Unless you're using projectors, there's going to be glare. End of story.

period.
the reflectors in your car arent setup for hid. While the input is higher its not always good for you. Run em regular until you get the cajones to cut up your headlights and throw some projectors in there.

9000k is teh

I'm running 6000k's... I aimed the headlights down a bit (can still see further than stock bulbs) and haven't been flashed in over a year. Just whatever you do, do NOT get "HID blue" halogens

...are you serious?

We don't use H7's in our cars at all, you're looking at a fair amount of fabrication.

Non-HID reflectors w/ HIDs == glare

(HID) Projectors w/ HIDs == perfection.

Even halogen projectors, I think, will be fine with HID bulbs.

If you don't understand it, don't do it. Problem solved.

We don't use H4's, I think we have H3's on our fogs. Headlights are 9004 easily modifiable into 9007. If he was using H7's, he did some fab work.

Can't you buy shields for the bulbs to reduce the glare? I would prefer projo's of course but I wouldn't have the guts to tackle that!

Yes. Or make your own...however, the keyword is: reduce. Not eliminate. I've not heard too great of things about them, anyway...

Some halogen projectors will do great with HIDs such as Mazda6 and Acura MDX. But cars such as Lexus SC400 and Acura Integra, they will have scattered light because the cut-off shield inside the projector housing have some opened spots, so when you get is a cut-off with some "UFOs" floating around.

The 4th gen is a pee on car by the aftermarket man. You can find projector headlights for a 90s honda but not a 4th gen maxima. If anybody has any connections with manufactuerers let me know, me and HomerMac are trying to figure out something on getting projector lights mass made for cefiros and 4th gens.

Anyone wanting to get hids please do your research, it will save you alot of money and heartache. Any "k" after 6000 actually starts to diminish but it "looks cool". 12000k is blacklight, if CSI needs you to shine your headlights to detect blood stains through luminal then get them.

It's a pain but a huge benefit seeing as our cars are more unique when custom projects like this are done to them. I think the projectors would be really cool in Cefiros.

9K you're asking for trouble. HID's in stock housings you're still asking for trouble. I used to run the ricer 9004's in my Max and went back to OEM because they burnt out after a few months. As well, price/haggle of modding the stock housings just aren't worth it IMHO for the 4th gen Max. If you're going to mod them though, either projector or bust.

HIDs in just about any car are excellent, if you do it right, basically retro-fit BMW, AUdi etc etc setups and hopefully aim them properly, everything else just doesnt cut it.
