Ripped CV Boot Question

I just noticed that the passenger side CV Boot is ripped. I want to replace the boot. Do I need to seperate the bottom ball joint to remove the axle from the car?

Thanks in advance
Paul W.

No you do not need to seperate the ball joint to remove the axle. IMO its much easier and less time consuming to throw in a new axle from Autozone.

no. you can disconnect the strut, then you lower it, pulling the axle out of the way so you can remove it from the tranny.

Thanks for the quick reply.
The boot is ripped in such a way as to retain most of its grease and the joint makes no noise and I have the rest of the week off so... what the heck.

raxles.com if you decided to look at a whole new half-axle.
