I need new pads in the front on my 97 SE. Im looking to spend around 70 bucks or so on pads. Does anyone have any suggestions on what pads are the best. I went to kragen and they had a decent selection on performance pads but im looking to have good braking without having to buy new rotors and all that cuz im pretty broke right now after Xmas. Thnks
I got Hawk HP+ from Tirerack, but looks like they don't sell them anymore. They carry Satisfied GranSport 5 now.
You can also try Jason in the GD forum. He's the guy selling plated rotors. I got my last Ultimates from him. Not as good as the HP+, but better than stock. They dust like mad tho.

I purchased Friction Master pads from Advanced Auto Parts and they are excellent. They are the equivalent to Raybestos Quiet Stop (Cermic Pads) but don't cost as much. Mine cost $40.00 for the set.
Duralast for no brake dust...
But you need to break in your brake pads when you get them in, aka bedding your pads.

Currentlys got Centric Rotors + Metal Masters. I will see how it goes. It seems better, though the gay squeek is still present from time to time.

Cross drilled slotted on oem pads, might switch to hawk or another high performance pad, my mechanic told me to put better ones on w/ the rotors I have. I sometimes experience a slight squeak when almost to a complete stop just before I go to release my foot. I have been told differnt pads would work better with cross drilled slotted rotors.Originally Posted by FishyMan

This morning I did a tiny little bit of driving (back out of driveway, turn around, back into driveway) and my brakes were squealing a lot. The car's been sitting outside (I havent driven it) for about a week though. What do you guys recon? Pads?Originally Posted by FishyMan
Ya I'm getting a slight squeek, very faint yet at times none at all. I can't pinpoint exactly, but maybe the rears as well.
I got mine from here http://www.buybrakes.com/store/HB412-665. I like the Hawk Pads, they are low noise and less dust, and break power is realy good. I tap my brake and car slows down from 40mph.

Good Luck.

I got Metal Masters on OEM rotors. They squealed like crazy for the first 100 miles or so, but have been great since. No brake dust and stops much better than stock pads.
