Flywheel Differences for 95 Build Dates?

Flywheel Differences for 95 Build Dates?

Does anyone know whats the deal with the 95 and flywheels?

I've heard there are differences with some earlier and later build date 95's and flywheels...

For example, im doing a 5spd swap and purchase a 98 Flywheel, will it fit on my production date 11/94 engine?

All the noobs who not have a clue what im talking about,

Kevlo said 95-01 have the same crank so it should fit....

BUT, why when I search for a flywheel it always asks me for build date? from March 95 and under, and from March95 and up.

According to Nissanparts.org the factory flywheel is good for 95-01 it says nothing about preproduction 11/94. The flywheel for pre 11/94 lists just the regular 3rd gen flywheel. So acording to them you're good to go. Besides there are quite a few using 00-01 5th gen clutches now and not changing their flywheels.

-^ this is what im referring to, some 95 fidanza owners had to get there fidanza tapped and filled to get it to work right, im hoping it was just a fidanza issue, im going to just go ahead and try anyways, not gonna wait around to confirm this mystery.. lol

So if you use all 96+ parts you will not have to worry about it. That is what it seems like.

Im not understanding this issue from the thread shown, is that one bolt that is off along the outside of the flywheel (where the PP's dowel pins and mounting holes are) or along the inside (where it mounts to the crank snout)?

NO! heres the dilly, Early made production 95 maxima (example: production date 07/94) Have 8 bolts on the crank and maximas made in 95 year production and up have I believe 9 bolts on the crank. Another things 95 maximas had a problem with the flywheel as well. The number of teeth are diff from 95 year production maxima even to the 96 made maxima. When replacing a starter for your 95 maxima the starter must have 10 teeth on it. When they were 1st made they came with 8 teeth and there was a problem with that setup so they went to 10 and now they even have 11. this problem is known for the early production 95 maxima and lots of 94 3rd gens. Picking an after market flywheel like I did was a no no. Its hard to find anyone that would make an 8 bolt flywheel with a place to bolt up the crank position plate behind the flywheel. Therefore I got the wrong stupid thing and now Im trying to sell it. Becareful this is the only thing that sucks for early made 95's or just 95 year maximas in general.

one last thing i forgot to mention even if you get a 8 bolt flywheel remember that 3rd gens DONT HAVE CRANK POSITION SENSORS! so your flywheel won't have a place to bolt up that secondary ring plate for that sensor.

best bet for you is to use your stock flwyheel. Just resurface it just like I did. No biggie. Remember its better to remove the trans once and not 100 times for a stupid flywheel misstake.

So if you keep your stock flywheel regardless of the year (example 95) you can still install the 5th gen 00-01 clutch & PP setup that's so popular now with no probs? thanks

FAST only show's one crank for the VQ30 all years.

Cranks can be the same. bolt patterns on the cranks are different. Don't ask me why. Yes you can use any clutch setup your heart desires. Im using ACT stage 1 heavy duty clutch with a new transmission. Everything is fine. I would suggest you buy a new clutch slave and if your starter is over 6 years old order a new one. Take out your old starter count the teeth and if its 10 write down the serial number in on the bottem side and provide any car part company with it.
