Wheel Spacers and Longer Studs
Wheel Spacers and Longer Studs
I purchased the BlehmCo 300zx BBK with 04-05 Maxima rotors......now the wheels i use for Auto-X are 300zx wheels and they require a 1/2" spacer....would anyone recommend getting longer wheels studs because of the spacer...i will prolly use the spacer for my 17s as well just to keep in on....i know u should have so many turns of the lug nuts to be safe but since its january in Buffalo i dont feel like going out in the cold to count turns on my lugs with a spacer behind the wheels that are in storage
this is what i am asking......i dont who how big of a spacer u can go befreo needing to use longer studs or using spacers with studs in them like eibachs and others....i did a search and it seems most people running 15mm spacers would suggest longer studs.even though i really will only need 13mm but thats an odd size....so i guess i will go that route as wheel.....i will prolly jsut get teh NISMO 50mm studs from courtesy unless i can fin a set of 15mm spacers with studs for a good price...i have a spare stock stud at home ill have to measure to determine which NISMO studs to get 50mm or 60mm
5mm wouldbe the minumum I would go without longer studs. You say your planning on using a 1/2 in spacer? If so, you definately should use longer studs.
.50in = 12.7mm, almost 13mm so i would go with the longer studs.
A 10mm spacer is really pushing it wiith no spacer.

i have been doing some measurements here at work and if i gowith 15mm spacers (little bigger than 1/2") and the 60mm studs i will only have like 3mm of extra thread than i would with stock studs and no spacers....which is like 2.5 turns...so 60mm studs and 15mm spacers is what i have decided to do

I meant spacers where you screw a longer stud into the hub, then slip the spacer, wheel, and nut over that. Kinda like these (quickest pic I could find)

The danger comes from untorqing wheels off and the lug bolt unseating itself a few threads from the hub and no longer remaining fully engaged.

The cheap non hub centric spacers with studs built in are crap
You really need longer studs with anything over 5mm.
