96 Maxima "Bucking" under light acceleration

During the transition between coasting and slight acceleration, and slight acceleration and deceleration there is a flat spot, which causes the car to buck . There is no smooth transition under light load. To put it another way, when sitting in neutral, there is no way to keep the RPM's between 1000 and 1500. The "dead" spot in the throttle won't allow that range. As you increase the gas pedal travel, it is smooth to 1000 RPM, then kind of dies, until the pedal is pressed further, then the RPM's jump up to 1500 RPM's and everything after that is smooth.
Not a huge deal, but it is annoying when you want to cruise at a constant low speed (the car jerks back and forth).
No codes, 5spd.
Could it be the TPS has a "dead" spot in the resistor?
Thanks...

My 99 5 speed does a similar thing, idk if its the exact same thing though, I feel like the flat spot you describe might cause the original jumpiness which in turn caused my problem

the answer was really stupid, first gear is short and kind of jumpy, combined with a soft throttle pedal and my floppy ankles haha

the car would jump a little bit from the strong tug in first gear and start my right foot bouncing on the pedal which, with the soft gas pedal under my foot, would become worse each time the car bucked until I let off completely and tried again

funny when I first drove the car I thought it was a clutch issue and I almost didnt buy the car

Actually, I know what you're talking about. Similar thing has happened to me, I think it only happened when I had the A/C on or something to that extent though. I haven't noticed it now though--will go out and check soon.

No advice for ya except maybe try with the A/C off...?

It happens consistently, with the A/C off or on, in all gears under light load / maintained speed.

I'm guessing I can check the "sweep" of the TPS by removing and measuring resistance through the full movement?

Thanks for the responses......

you guys are getting too technical the problem is your rubber mountings. they are inside the engine bay one on the upper left and one on the upper right. change those i PROMISE your problem is gone.
