Possible trans-computer gone bad?
Possible trans-computer gone bad?
Well here's whats going on... i have a 98 trans with ~6k miles on it for about 6 months now.... and im still fighting with the trans not shiffting correctly... basically going 40 it feels like its locked in gear... if i press the gas gently the rpms dont move on the tach... it takes almost half throttle to get it out of gear.... now i know this aint normal... since both have the exact same problem would it be possible to have a bad trans computer...
by the way i get no codes and i have a new tps sensor and the throttle cables are tight....

Diagnosing anything, you would start off with the basics. check your trans fluid. Look around the trans make sure all wires are in and secure, if anything check for corrosion. Then I would throw a scanner on the car and get a live data stream on what's currently happening. It could even be a defect trans from the company or rebuilt gone wrong. Go back a few steps as well before this trans was the old one doing the same thing? If so you go from there. You got to start thinking like a mechanic now, your willing to diagnose your car you have to think of re-accurance, did it happen with the old trans, did you install this trans, did someone else do it... Ect Ect..

At 40 MPH, trans up to operating temp your torque converter is locked up.
A bit of throttle should unlock it and allow engine RPM's to rise.
Check the TPS adjustment.
Haynes manual will help you set it correctly.

ANY SUGGESTIONS... PLEASE ANY HELP OUT THERE WOULD BE APPRECIATED GREATLY.
