Leaves or dirt stuck in heater blower motor...help with removal!

I think there must be leaves or just dirt that is stuck inside the heater blower motor or fan. Whenever I turn on the heater, there's a sound of leaves crackling coming from the heater blower motor area. Anyone have any instructions on how I can remove the heater blower motor/fan so I can clean it out? Thanks in advance.

You need to remove the glove compartment...the filter is located behind it, try checking that first.

Basically the blower has a filter piece on the bottom that has three screws. Once that is off (you have to unplug a wire or two), you can take out the screws for the blower, then just pull out and clean.

Like I said, I needed more room, so I took out the glove compartment. So make sure you are willing to spend some time on it. It's worth it to invest in a service manual if you are willing to give stuff like this a try. They have pictures and everything!
tenchars..

Thanks for your quick reply. I remember doing that once a long time ago...however, I couldn't pull out the filter. Something was blocking it so I couldn't pull it down to clean it...but I'll try it again when the weather is better.

Well, I took out the glove box compartment and tried to take out the heater blower motor, but was unsuccessful. I got everything loosen up but can't pull it out from underneath because of the plastic bar running from left to right. It's blocking the way when I pull the blower down from it's housing. Here's what I'm talking about:

The plastic strip that I'm holding is the culprit and the other part marked by the RED arrows. I can't take it off because it's one piece attached to the center dash and right A pillar. Anyone know how I can get around this? Or how am I supposed to take out the blower? Thanks in advance.

Can someone who has done this procedure answer these questions? I have read in many different threads that the blower motor just drops down after unscrewing the three bolts that hold it but for me, those parts mentioned above are blocking the motor from dropping down freely.

I have a '95 with auto climate control.

thanks in advance.

P.S. Lol, I know this thread is old but its the only one where the question I need answered was asked.

I have the same problems and when I took out mine a long time ago, I found no debris. Pulled the circular filter out and it was clean after 9yrs. And it still rattles.
