Speedo gauge problem, elec. gurus step in

I doubt anyones gonna have an answer for this, but worth a shot..

ok, so i was putting LEDs in my gf's 99 gauge cluster (for needles), and if any of you know anything about the 99SE gauge cluster, specifically the speedo gauge, its kind of a pita to get an LED in there. so i looked on the back, and saw that there were 2 screws, and 4 soldered connections holding the gaugeface, needle and motor (whatever its called that spins the needle) onto the breadboard:

Seemed simple enough, so i took the screws out, unsoldered the 4 conenctions that held the 4 rods (rods attached to the motor) and it came right off. I then placed my LED in place, and put it all back toghether, the soldering job is very easy and straightforward, just 4 drips basically.

Now, the speedo does not work at all, no needle movement. i haven't changed anything else, but i figure it has to be the solder connections or something because the trip and odo still work.. ive tried sucking the solder off, cleaning the spot (its not even dirty or anything), and resoldering and it still doesn't work, i dont know what to do. its gotta be something stupid, i dont understand why it doesn't work now.. any one have ANY idea why it might not work? or better yet someone have this same problem? anyone?
