How low too low?

Hey I got a quick question for you dropped guys out there.

How low is too low? What the lowest you can go without having to worry about scraping anything? My friend is saying to go 3" but I believe that is way to low

I know the B-pipe is ~5.5 inches from the ground and I dont need to scrap anything to make a leak in my exhaust

I'm down 2.2" and while it looks great, I hate it. I cant haul anyone in my car because the rear tires rub like crazy so I basically have a huge coupe, I'm gonna be raising my car up on Eibachs as soon as I can. I hae very few problems rubbing the bottom of the car against any bumps or anything like that, but I hate the loss of freedom to do what I will with the back seat. BTW, dropped on Sprints with one coil cut off the back to make it sit level.

Maybe there was a reason for the extra coil....

Yes, 3" is too low. My B-Pipe yells that too me when I go over speed bumps at my school. And my friends have seen sparks come out from underneath my car when my frame/crossmember hit the ground after a bump. My axles and wheel bearings are crap now. My tires are only 7" wide but rub so much.

You can only go so low without putting a lot of stress on your drive axles and your rack and pinion steering. It's pretty stupid to ignore these things just to be low. The consequences will put a major whole in your wallet. But as a friend of mine always says, "you gotta pay to play". I guess that is why he is always broke. I'd say 2" would be the lowest you would want to go, anything lower than that would just put your car's suspension geometry way out of wack. Rubbing should be the least of your worries.

Get coilovers so you can adjust what you want. D2's cost the same as new shocks, springs, and all necessary parts for the suspension.

u can never go too low in the max. its all about taking the right angels and u can get in and out of anywhere u want without worryin about the front lip. the b pipe might scrape here and there. i say 3.5" is perfect

There you go!!! Right out of the horses mouth. Don't leave any details out...tell us how many axles you have been thru so far and what kind of noises are coming from your suspension now since the drop.

I agree with you. I have been through about 6 axles in about the past year or so and it is a constant hassel dealing with bumps and stuff getting scraped. I would know since my lip sitts litterally 3" off the ground. But i love how it looks

I am lowered 1.5" on Eibachs. Been through one set of axles. B-pipe/resonator loves to scrape the ground on any hump in the road. Sure, you can go sideways to lessen or avoid it, but you can only go sideways so much.

With a 1.5" drop and a lip I already have to go sideways to get out of parking lots. However, when I didn't have the lip yet, I could take on almost anything straight on without a problem. I think the lip makes the front about an inch or two lower. I seriously don't know how some of you guys (ex: VIP-max) manage to even get around lol.

Damn your max is clean. I'm so jealous.

I go as low as i can go and i don't encounter a lot of probablems. I usually don't attempted driveways that look a bit tricky unless i have to. I think GC's should go lower though!

don't hear that too often! i'm about a 2 inch drop, and as long as I'm careful, i don't have much difficulty at all.

2 axles here for me but I push harder than most. Total avail drop is gonna vary by mods like LTB's & wheels, road conditions, etc. I've been down to 2.75" clearance below the front brace (3.25" drop) and that was pushing things. Common thinking from car mags like SCC and GRM say Sentra's are best at no more than 2" drop. Once the weather warms up I'll be taking CG and roll center measurements and post.

Anything is possible with $$$ and custom fabrication...but why even bother?

I'd rather spend the money on performance upgrades and engine/tranny swap.
