Airbags

I have a question....I have a 1997 GXE with the basic flat looking bags and I have loved the SE style airbag ever since I saw it. Well I bought an SE airbag COVER on ebay today...am I risking blowing up my bags if I take the cover off of mine? My brother was telling me that the covers are part of the airbag and to get them off I need to drill them out....possibly ruining the bag. True? I really love the SE look and would love to have it on GXE.

Nah...the steering wheel shape is the same (SE is leather...GXE is not - If I'm wrong...someone PLEASE let me know because next I'm buying an SE wheel cause it's leather). The airbags covers are different on SE's than GLE's.

SE Bag:

GXE/GLE Bag:

Can I swap the covers without damaging the airbag itself? I love the SE style bag cover.

I know how to take the bag off...I've taken my wheel off like 40 times. So the covers can be swapped? Thanks.
