coolant leak

coolant leak

.... its my friends 96 max... we did maintenance on it yesterday... hoses to oil change and fuel filter to pcv and freakin tranny gear oil... and now today after noon around 2... he has a coolant leak... he didn't drive it for a while... the alternator went out... so i don't know wat i cood be i checked around the hoses and wat not... nothing... i crawled up under the car and i see it drippin from the oil pan towards the edge face the radiator... any idea wat it cood be?

How much of a leak is it? It could be your water pump, but it's hard to say based on your description. I had a bad leak there and had to get the water pump replaced. See this: http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=446663

would it be easier to change the water pump if i took the engine off the motor mount on the pass side and kinda jack it up a lil

thats the only way to do it. change your timing chain tensioner while your at it.

although if it was your water pump i dont think it would be leaking so far up front. when my pump went it leaked in the back of my oil pan away from the rad. i think thats because theres a weep hole right on the side of the block.
