reverse lights are 1156. 1157's are used for brake lights because they're dual filament

true, but at 250 bucks a pop, its not worth it. Its also not worth blinding the hell out of ppl behind you when you're backing up into the parking spot. I dont think they would be a great product, since the hids would have to power up for a few secs and turn off....

Reverse lights are NOT 1156. It's 921. I bought a pair of white LED bulb and those things are bright as he11, but does not light up the road behind you as much as regular 921 bulbs.

Here's a bulb chart... credit to ceasars chariot

Here is the reverse HID you can buy from uminzta. They have plenty of pics, but like Nismotic stated, for that much its not worth it.

Heres some pics. They dont really show the true difference. The first is both xenons, the second pic is a comparison with the xenons on the left. I'm thinking of lining the inside of the light compartment with aluminum foil or maybe some mirror vinyl. That should help out alot.

the chart from this site post above

Shows 97-99 is 921, 95-96 is 1156, I guess the new tails use different bulbs.

The 97-99 have a small bulb on the lower outer side that lights with the brake light, maybe that is that...

No no, that little sidemarker is just a regular 194. The reverse lights on 97-99 are 921 bulbs, why can't you people accept that? Pop your trunk and take a look--they are little smaller than 1156/7 bulbs but plenty bright.

Personally I'm thinking of putting LED bulbs in my reverse lights to get the nice pure white look, but it'd be tough to find an LED bulb bright enough. Probably not worth it given how seldom the reverse lights are used.

you guys are bannnanananans bright reverse lights
Do you guys all go to car shows and put your cars in reverse?

You know the purpose those lights are to signal people to tell them what you are doing not light up the world otherwise they would've put 9004's back there. Probably about out of a whole year on average I probably use them for a whole minute. Talk about getting your 15 seconds of fame.

Must be great being able to parallel park all the time, I use my reverse at least 2 times a day. What’s wrong with bright reverse lights? Like you said, they are used to signal, so why not make sure people coming up on you can see it. It also helps to have bright ones in places like Texas where most of the people drive huge azz trucks which is always fun having to creep into reverse to get out of a parking spot in-between 2 large trucks.

Bullsh!t—reverse lights do a lot more than signal. They are essentially reverse headlights to help you see where you're backing up. Especially in a dark area in the country or anywhere if you have a tinted rear window.

Yes, with my tinted rear window, I cannot reverse safely in an unlit area with putting down my window and/or opening my door to peak out (which is always fun during the winter time). I was thinking of getting brighter reverse bulbs too.

Umnitza makes reverse HID's, perhaps you can contact them and find out if they can make one that would fit the Maxima's tail light housing.
