I highly recommend the NGK Laser Platinums, they are worth the extra expense. If you dont want to pay the $12 a plug then go for the copper V power plugs, but you will only get 20k or so out of them. I run the V-Power plugs in my ram and am satisfied with them. Next go round it will be getting Platinum plugs to go along with my fuel system mods.
For batteries I recommend Optima Red/Yellow top. I have a Red Top in every car I own. My Cutlass went for a year without being started and I was able to crank it over long enough for fuel to hit the carb and start without using a booster. To me that says good battery.

Optima is the best battery bar none. Its the only real Gel Cell battery so far for a car. Soon they will all be Gel Cell but as of right now, it cost alot of money to make and manufacture. To me, Optima is the only thing you should be buying.

I would go with an optima battery www.optimabatteries.com and Denso Iridium spark plugs. Both these items are BIG $$ but you can't beat the quality. Note: If your putting in a big watt stereo system I would recommend the Optima Yellow Top, for the Maxima use Model D35. I bought mine w/ free shipping for 139.95 online at Http://www.pleasanthillgrain.com.

does sears carry redtops or just mainly there own diehard brand? Doesn't die hard carry something with a red top as well. Not an optima.
I ask because i'm looking for a redtop to be installed my negative terminal was stripped out almost completely. And i'm personally too lazy to install it on my own.

5 year warranty? do you know if its all pepboys?
I just walked by sears today. And i saw redtops for 129$ starting price and 3 year warranty. yellowtops had 1 year warrnaty. I rather get a battery at pepboys reguardless of the price if its a 3 year.

I got the Optima from Autozone overa year ago and it came with a 5 year warranty. So I guess it is a optimun thing. I know with a system, I draw a lil to much when sitting still. brop to about 12v instead of 14v when cruising. I plan on doing another red top to hopefully correct this issue. So take this into account when you do your system.
Denso Iridiums plugs are the way to go. I always use them. I know they are not cheap but they work. I went with Bosco at one time and they blew. No gas mileage and ran poorly with those. So go denso. It is also the stock brand of plugs used by Nissan now anyways.

Optima Red Top here. Got it for the warranty and the reputation.
Red Top and Yellow Top are both among the best you can get. They're just optimized differently: the Red Top is made to be able to provide more power than the Yellow Top on cold starts, whereas the Yellow Top stands up better to being drained over long periods of time (like when you're running your electrics with the engine off). But either one will crank harder, be more consistent, and last longer than most other batteries.
I should note that I have a reasonably big system (200 watts RMS to the main speakers, ~350 watts RMS to the sub), but I almost never run it with the engine off so I didn't bother shelling out the extra $30 for the Yellow Top when I had to replace my dead Energizer. But that's just me... I know many people who still opt for the Yellow Top when they have big sound systems, even if they almost never run them with the engine off.
But the moral of the story is that you really can't go wrong either way.
As for plugs... I ran Denso Iridiums for ~30k miles and just recently switched them out for NGK Iridiums. Both have worked great for me, although I may have noticed slightly lower gas mileage with the NGKs.

i'm planning on getting a red top actually. I had problems starting once this year. But my battery is still over 12v. But the problem is my postive terminal has a leak. I'm haven't had a lot of problems with my current one, but a rather not risk it so once i can afford to throw about $150 into a new red top.

I'm pretty sure I pulled a NGK plug from my stock 95 maxima.
