thanks again MAXDADDY98 but it turned out that it stopped doin' it. now every mornin' when i go to start the car will start right up but i guess it might been cuz of the sittin' around for such a long time that it gave me that problem. i still have to pull the code from the ECU to c what the hell is causin' the random misfire in the motor.

anyone have an answer about my front, rear, and taillights question i posted earlier on post #38?

well, i managed to get codes to figure out what the hell might be causin' the random misfire:

1005-EGR solenoid valve or circuit fault
1302-Manifold Absolute Pressure Solenoid Valve or Circuit Fault
0201-Ignition Signal Primary Circuit Fault

what should i do or how do i go about fixin' these problems?

Your info says you have a 93. You have an ignition coil. Probably a bad coil. If it's a mistake and you have a 4th gen, then I would reset the computer. See what codes come up. and swap ignition coils and see if the misfire goes away.

i drive a '93 GXE 5-spd VG30E and an '89 SE 5-spd VG30E non of which have coils. ur probably thinkin' that i have the VE series engine in my '93 and i don't. the codes i posted up r from the '96 GLE auto i bought for my mom and i just swapped in a '99 engine into it. hope that clears that up.

A friend I work with just did a motor swap. He put a 3.0 out of a 99 max to a 95 max. The car ran like a top for a couple of months. Now as soon as he starts it the fans kick on and after a couple of minutes they kick off. When the fans kick off the car dies. The car will not start again unless he lets it sit for about 30 min or so. Is there anyone that has any suggestions to his problem. He has had a nissan tech come to his house and look at it, but no luck yet. Thanks

One thing that comes to mind is the coolant temperature sensor. Does the car seem to overheat before it shuts off? The fans come on once a temperature reaches a certain point and the ECU will actually shut the motor off if the temperature is too high in some instances.

Test the coolant sensors. I don't know how many there are on our cars. If that doesn't work try to swap ECUs.

I find it highly suspicious that a nissan tech couldnt diagnose this problem. Hook up the CONSULT computer and you'll be able to check status of all sensors right then and there.

BTW is a 95 maxima OBD I or OBD II?

it depends what shop u go to. i think the price range in swappin' motors at a shop should be between $350 - $800. i am just assumin' on the price range but i may be wrong. i did the swap myself with my dad and i only paid $575 for a '99 engine to put it into my '96.
