New exhaust for $2200!!!

My exhaust was starting to sound a bit louder than normal, so I brought it in to the stealer for an oil change and told them to take a look at it. Imagine my surprise when they said that I needed a new catalytic converter, muffler, mid-muffler, and the O2 sensor that goes back there, for a nice price of $2200 installed. I was like, yeah okay thanks. What do you think my options are? Should I go to Midas/Meineke to have the work done there, or are there any aftermarket exhaust install places around that would do this a lot cheaper? What do you think is a reasonable price to pay to replace the entire exhaust system with O2 sensor, even with aftermarket parts? Thanks.

Depends on what you are looking for. Do you want to go after market? The exhaust will be louder.

If it was me I would go aftermarket with the cat back, OEM with the cat, and the O2 Sensor. Then just install the stuff yourself. Its pretty easy.

i took one of my cars to meineke and they did a good job. they charged me a 100 bucks and my exhaust is aftermarket and thats the y-pipe, cat, res, b-pipe, muf. it was a warpspeed performance exhaust and they used the torch.

this is why they call it the stealership. i was quoted a greddy sp2 installed for 140 at midas. welded and everything, i could even buy it from whatever source i wished and have it shipped there (i think less shipping $ at modacar.com) so like 700 for the whole catback deal

No welding should be needed. Everything is bolt on.
